Pediatric vaccines against Covid-19 arrive to apply first reinforcement to children from 5 to 12 years old

A batch of 252,000 doses of pediatric vaccine from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, against Covid-19, arrived in Panama to be distributed in all health regions of the country and with which it is intended to start with the first booster for children under 5 to 11 years.

According to the director of Public Health Melva Cruz, this Wednesday, June 29, the distribution of the pediatric vaccine began in the 15 health regions, aimed at children between 5 and 11 years of age, to complete the first or second dose and start the vaccination of the first booster, so it calls on all parents to keep in mind that vaccines are safe and effective in preventing diseases.

For her part, the coordinator of the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) Itzel Hewitt, reported that from very early on they were sent by air through the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN), to areas of difficult access such as Bocas del Toro, Ngobe Buglé, Chiriquí. and Kuna Yala, pediatric vaccines.

Hewitt said that, with the distribution in all regions of the country, from tomorrow, June 30, vaccination can begin.

In addition, he reported that the vaccination strategy continues throughout the country, with the placement of: Tdap, yellow fever, Human Papilloma, influenza and covid-19

The centers authorized for the placement of pediatric vaccines are all Health Centers nationwide, Vaccination in your Neighborhood, Extra-Muro activities, in Metro stations and on weekends in all shopping centers.

According to the latest EPI report, 515,487 pediatric doses have been placed between 5 and 11 years of age, which represents 54.4% of the first dose and 37.1% of the second dose.
