Santo Domingo.– The National Health Service (SNS) left operational 18 new beds in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Maternal Child Hospital Dr. Julio Manuel Rodríguez Grullón, which elevates in a 221.21% The installed capacity for the attention of critical cases in the child population.
With this extension, the number of pediatric UCI beds went from 33 in August 2020 to 106 todaystrengthening the hospital response and reducing waiting times in a region where the demand for intensive care has been increasing.
During the opening ceremony, the executive director of the SNS, Mario LamaHe stressed that the initiative is part of the national strategy to modernize and expand the hospital network.
“We continue to invest in infrastructure, equipment and trained personnel to ensure that each child receives the attention it deserves in a timely manner,” he said.
The new pediatric ICU has state -of -the -art technology for continuous monitoring, advanced life support and specialized care, all in a safe environment and low clinical standards.
For its part, the hospital director, Onnes Tapia RamírezHe stressed that this expansion is a decisive step for the modernization of medical services in the region.

In addition to the extension in intensive care, The hospital presented new technological advances in surgical and diagnostic areassuch as modern equipment for laparoscopy and fluoroscopy, which will allow less precise less invasive and diagnostic interventions.
