On the eve of the committees of the Chamber of Deputies voting on the opinions of a new Water Law and a reform of the National Water Law, rural producers intensified lobbying with Morena, PRI and PT to insist on the urgency of making more modifications to the texts.

Peasants from Chihuahua and Guanajuato rejected the wording of Article 22, which prohibits the transfer of water rights, while the National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside insisted that their demands are not a whim.

Eraclio Rodríguez Gómez, who warned that the movement that blocked roads is on “high alert” and ready to resume mobilizations, met yesterday with the coordinators of Morena and PT, Ricardo Monreal Ávila and Reginaldo Sandoval Flores, respectively.

In an interview, in which he reported that the ruling could be addressed today in plenary, “if necessary,” Monreal Ávila assured that most of the producers’ demands had already been addressed, but agreed that more changes could be made.

“The issue of the ranchers, who wanted not to be excluded from the water concession and to be able to share agriculture with livestock, is already resolved in the ruling. Or the free lighting zones, which required their regularization, too. Or the elimination of the fictive refusal, now also. Or the inheritance of the properties and the volume of the concessions, all of that is resolved,” he said.

However, the PAN and PRI benches in the Chamber of Deputies anticipated their vote against in the committees and in the plenary session. He blue and white He announced that he will request the withdrawal of the draft opinion.

The vice coordinator of the bench, Noemí Luna Ayala, stated that, if the opinion includes “90 patches” to the presidential initiative, this reflects that “it is poorly formulated and affects the most valuable thing we have in the country: primary activities. The countryside speaks and the government does not listen. Farmers, ranchers and transporters have raised their voices and are not the political enemies of the regime, they are not sponsored by the opposition. What they express is desperation.”

The PRI also received a group of producers from Chihuahua and Guanajuato. “We are not going to endorse an imposition. We want them to let us put food on our tables and on their tables,” declared Alexa Jiménez, from Chihuahua, at a press conference.

Mauricio Pérez, representative of corn producers from Bajío, indicated that the ruling leaves them uncertain, because “the State can take away our wells and there are many of these legal loopholes.”
