On September 6, the election of spokesmen and spokesmen of the peasant councils will be held throughout the country, with a view to the Formation of the National Campesina Ezequiel Zamorainitiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, as part of the new agricultural development model.
The peasant councils will be composed of elected spokespersons in three strategic commissions: organization and training, productive economy, with the conuco as a central axis, and territorial defense and national sovereignty, as established by the Land Law and in the Law on Agrifood Security and Sovereignty, reviewed a press release of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The process For the configuration of the peasant councilshas mobilized thousands of rural communities in an unprecedented deployment, after the realization of 15,060 informative assemblies, the formation of 14,564 peasant promoting commissions and the execution of 4,022 rural demographic censuses, key tools for territorial diagnosis and productive planning.
Participation in these assemblies evidences the commitment of the peasantry with the construction of a productive, sovereign and non -rentier economy, and with the strengthening of the rural social fabric through democratic participation, collective work and the active defense of the territory.
The Ezequiel Zamora Campesina Union is emerging as a national organization of the agricultural sector, which will group thousands of producers, field workers and rural communities on a production and unity platform, with two great objectives: produce for the people and defend the country before any internal or external threat.
