The Single Union Federation of Peasant Workers, through its leader Erick Fuentes, denied being involved in the assaults that were recorded over the weekend on the Santa Rita and San Fernando properties, in the Guarayos province, and held the interculturals responsible for those events.
Fuentes indicated that he, together with the leaders Mario Zapata and Elizabeth Gonzales They were accused of having entered Santa Rita, which he considered a lack of respect, and explained that on Saturday all of them were in Santa Cruz giving a press conference and not in Guarayos.
“I was giving a press conference on Saturday from the door of the Peasant Federation and at that same moment the invaders were taking over Santa Rita. So I can’t be in two places at the same time and the same thing happens with the other two leaders who also accompanied me: Mario Zapata and Elizabeth Gonzales,” he indicated.
According to the leader of the peasants, those responsible for the encroachments on the Guarayos properties are the intercultural ones. He added thatthe interculturals also burned some homes of the peasants who were settled in neutral lands.
Fuentes indicated that on Wednesday, December 4, he will give a conference to reject the accusations against him and publicly denounce the ringleaders of the interculturalists who -presumably- were behind the illegal settlements in Santa Rita and San Fernando.
