The road to Beni It is blocked at the height of the municipality of Ascensión of Guarayos by a group of peasants from the Cerro Grande community, who are demanding the release of 12 people accused of encroaching on private property called La Toja.

“It is urgently instructed to block the road to all peasant communities, to assume the defense of the dignity and integrity of peasant families and territory in the usual place; Cerro Grande headquarters”, says part of the pronouncement of the peasants.

This blockade began on December 24 to request that justice release the 12 people arrested. Besides, request the presence of representatives of government ministries and of Lands in Guarayos to be able to dialogue

The Transit Director of the Bimodal Terminal, Elvis Núñez said that this blockade has made it difficult for the buses that cover the interdepartmental service reach their destination, so they seek to reach an agreement with the peasants so that they lift this measure of pressure.

The community called “Cerro Grande” is the one that settled on the La Toja property and cleared more than three kilometers of land cwith heavy machinery, without any type of soil managementwhich caused serious environmental damage, according to the Government Minister, Eduardo del Castillo.
