This Tuesday, various social movements of farmers, community members, and universities, among others, gather on Avenida Libertador in order to march to Puente Llaguno, in commemoration of the 165 years of the Battle of Santa Inés.
During the great concentration, in which joy and color predominate, some of the attendees expressed their impressions and motivations about their participation in the march.
The community member, Mary Pérez, assured that the march not only commemorates the aforementioned historical date, but also participates in the activity as a way to express her support for the president, Nicolás Maduro, as well as celebrate the legacy of the Commander, Hugo Chávez. , who woke up the people of Venezuela.
For her part, another of the attendees at the event, the Cultural Coordinator of the Universidad Campesina de Venezuela, Algimiro Gabaldon, Rosalba Sequera, stated that “with this march we are ratifying the importance of community projects and the knowledge that the university provides. to the peasants”, in addition to expressing his strong support for President Maduro.
For his part, Iguaraya Alvarado, from the Renacer del Manzano Commune in Lara state, assured that “There are many things to change” in favor of the revolution, and stressed that “he fights for open-eyed justice.”
He highlighted that thanks to the revolution “the people for the first time have the small opportunity to be heard, and to make the necessary changes to consolidate the revolution.”
As will be remembered, the Battle of Santa Inés was decisive in the Federal War, in which the federalists under the command of Ezequiel Zamora triumphed, on December 10, 1859, in the state of Barinas, and today it symbolizes the triumph of the organized peasant people. protagonist of that fight
Such a Battle is a historical, moral and tactical-military reference for the people of Venezuela. Commander Hugo Chávez Frías baptized the electoral campaign for the 2004 recall referendum as “Second Battle of Santa Inés.”
