Government declaration before the death of Pope Francis
“The Government and the People of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay deeply regret the death of Pope Francis,” said Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin. He informed that the President of the Republic, Professor Yamandú Orsi, and the vice president, Carolina Cosse, published their respective condolences in the social network X, and that also, Orsi sent to the dean of the Cardinal College of the Vatican the most felt condolences and feeling of pain in the name of Uruguay.
The chancellor also extended condolences to the congregations and faithful Catholics in Uruguay, the people and the government of the Argentine Republic.
He also said that, as is Uruguayan tradition, President Orsi will declare official duel on the day of the funeral and, in addition, it is evaluated to send a diplomatic delegation to participate in the funeral.
