PDVSA reactivates two oil production units in Lake Maracaibo

The president of PDVSA, Pedro Tellechea, participated in the delivery of boats recovered by the workers, a task with which they seek to provide “a greater logistical response to the needs of the fields operated on the lake.”

Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) announced this Friday, June 23, the start-up of at least two production units located in the state of Zulia, with which it will increase the pumping of crude oil from this area of the country.

The Minister of Petroleum and president of the state company, Pedro Tellecheavisited a plant located on Lake Maracaibo, where he witnessed the commissioning of a production module of the Lama Compression Plant, reported PDVSA in a press release.

The activated equipment “will allow the incorporation of 5,000 new barrels to the established goal, a victory that adds to the plan to increase the pumping of hydrocarbons from Zulia,” the letter states.

Likewise, Tellechea verified “the activation of the 740-barrel-per-day sweetener of sour crude” at another plant in Maracaibo, the capital of the oil-rich region.

“The implementation of this core area will enhance reliability in the management of hydrocarbons,” the state company stressed in the text.

In addition, the official participated in the delivery of boats recovered by the workers, a task with which they seek to provide “a greater logistical response to the needs of the fields operated on the lake.”

The president of PDVSA will continue in “permanent deployment” in all areas of the company “to continue accompanying the achievements of the working class in this renaissance,” added the press release.

Venezuela reached a production of 819,000 barrels per day (bpd) in May, the highest so far in 2023, according to the report by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Expectations that the nation will increase its production improved after the US company Chevron received, last November, the go-ahead to resume the production and extraction of oil or derivatives from the joint ventures with PDVSA, which, according to independent projections, will result in an increase of at least 125,000 bpd.
