Pdvsa put shipping agencies on hold and demands documents for review

Pdvsa has confirmed the collection of only 16% of the oil exported since 2020

The PDVSA board of directors has been carrying out a series of measures to reorganize the different operations carried out by the industry, as well as to detect irregularities under an internal anti-corruption investigation.

PDV Marina issued a statement in which it requires companies that provide shipping services and that currently have permits to operate with Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), to send a series of documents to the state entity for review.

The directive of the state oil company has been carrying out a series of measures to reorganize the different operations carried out by the industry, as well as to detect irregularities under an internal anti-corruption investigation.

At the end of January, after Pedro Tellechea assumed the presidency of PDVSA, he ordered the suspension of oil export contracts, which caused foreign sales of crude oil to almost come to a standstill, according to various news agencies.

On the other hand, the administration of Nicolás Maduro has made changes in the directive of the state oil company, after revealing the corruption plot in which various officials are involved. This Wednesday, March 22, the appointment of Héctor Andrés Obregón Pérez as Executive Vice President of PDVSA and Luis Enrique Molina Duque as Vice President of Exploration and Production was announced.

The corruption scandal that involves resources for crude oil sales for 3,000 million dollars, made Tarek El Aissami will resign from his position as Minister of Oil to give way to the investigations that may take place. A short time later, the ruler Nicolás Maduro appointed Tellechea to occupy this ministerial portfolio.

Among the documents that PDV Marina requests from shipping companies are a copy of the Fiscal Information Registry (RIF), a copy of the registration and operating code as a shipping agent issued by the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) and the certification as an international transport agent issued by the Seniat.

“All those companies that provide shipping agency services, with proven capabilities in the operations carried out by our industry and possessing the proper permits, are invited to send (documents) to the email address [email protected]», it was indicated in the call.

According to sources consulted by SuchWhichthe shipping agencies that operate with PDVSA are waiting to restart the transport of Venezuelan crude, and they will be like this until their registration documentation is reviewed.

The source pointed out that some clients of the state oil company are concerned that this new measure could further delay shipments. “Until now, the only one that has not been affected by PDVSA’s measures has been the North American Chevron that it continues to transport oil to ports in the United States without major problems,” said the source consulted, who preferred to keep his name confidential.

However, according to tanker monitoring pages, they indicate that the tankers that transport fuel and oil to the island of Cuba also operate without problems.
