A total of 900 representatives of fuel stations in the country met with the president of PDVSA, Pedro Rafael Tellechea to assess the situation of gasoline and diesel vendors. The president of Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), Pedro Rafael Tellechea, held a meeting with representatives of 900 service stations throughout the country, whose purpose was to offer work strategies to promote improvement in the sector that brings together more than 1,600 establishments. .
During his speech at the oil company’s headquarters on Monday, January 30, Tellechea assured that safety and image inspections will be carried out at the stations. “We must project the country and that begins by improving the image of service stations,” according to a press release from the state company.
He also indicated that work groups will be created to discuss and organize the improvement in the sale and distribution of fuel. “We are committed to making your business stable, comfortable and profitable,” he stressed.
For his part, the Vice President of Commerce and National Supply of pdvsaJuan Carlos Díaz, indicated that “we have come to find out what the situation of the service stations is, we are going to begin an approach to generate fluid communication.”
Service stations in the country show a series of economic difficulties for several years due to the economic recession, insecurity, the loss of personnel, the increase in public service rates, fuel shortages, changes in the method of payment through the Patria Platform and the debt that Pdvsa has maintained with these establishments.
The representatives of the sector warned that they would go bankrupt since they did not have enough income to meet operating, tax and labor expenses.
Similarly, the growing militarization of service stations and the continued presence of state officials, including Fontur, has generated allegations of corruption in these locations.
In his speech this Monday at PDVSA, the president of the National Federation of Gas Stations (Fenegas), Enrique Chacón said that “we are willing to work and solve each of the problems that afflict the sector to relaunch productivity at service stations.”
While Ana María Urdaneta, from the Metropolitan Association of Fuel Retailers, expressed that “the gas stations in Venezuela are here to work hand in hand with you. We feel satisfied with this meeting because we are listened to and we look for solutions for the growth we want”.
Héctor Sulbaran, owner of a chain of gasoline pumps in various parts of the country, thanked the president of PDVSA for the opportunity to meet with the sector in a very receptive and frank manner, giving a very productive debate to build solutions to optimize the service.
“This activity shows that despite the difficulties, there is an active economic class in Venezuela with the ability to work, since these are people who own family businesses and are the ones who from generation to generation have remained in charge of these service stations. We have managed to survive the strong crisis but still we maintain the spirit and sense of belonging to our trade, “he said.
Sulbaran highlighted that PDVSA asked the owners of gasoline pumps Emphasize the image and excellence in customer service of the operators. “The request is that the workers have a single uniform, as well as the visualization of the service stations with uniform convenience stores and administratively separated from the pump, thus giving the presence of a first-world gasoline distribution company.”
The representatives of the sector requested the elimination of the Tax on Large Financial Transactions (IGTF) and not allow the collection of tax on the sale of fuel by the municipalities.
