The Angol Investigative Police confirmed the arrest of Jaime Huenchullán, a werkén from the Temucuicui community who had an outstanding arrest warrant for the crime of “violent usurpation.” On the other hand, the sub-prefect Óscar Sánchez gave the details of the event.
“In the afternoon of today, personnel from the Angol PDI managed to arrest the accused Jaime Huenchullán Cayul, who registered a pending arrest warrant for the crime of violent usurpation issued by the Victoria court,” he said. “The detainee will be brought before the competent court in the morning,” he added.
The Temucuicui werkén is the brother of Jorge Huenchullán, who, after not appearing at a hearing against him for drug and weapons crimes, declared himself in hiding.
According to La Tercera, in the PDI operation an attempt was made to arrest the lonko Víctor Queipul, who managed to be rescued by a group of community members accompanying him, thus frustrating the arrest.
