The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and deputy Oscar Figuera stressed that, during the session on Friday, March 31, he was denied the right to speak. He questioned”what are you afraid he will say?
The right to speak of the deputy Oscar Figuera, during the discussion of the Organic Bill of Asset Forfeiture in the 2020 National Assembly (AN), was denied. In this sense, the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) also questioned himself, “what are you afraid he will say?”
Figuera highlighted that, during the session on Friday, March 31, the project for the Organic Law on Forfeiture of Assets was presented in a long speech by the first vice president of the PSUV, representative Diosdado Cabello, and with another extensive intervention by representative Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly.
“Are they afraid that it will be known that the leadership of the PSUV in the National Assembly is violating the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Internal and Debate Regulations, to prevent the PCV and the Popular Revolutionary Alternative from speaking?” , indicated.
With regard to the instrument under discussion, Figuera informed Tribuna Popular that “on this occasion the PCV was going to express its support for said legislative initiative “because it corresponds to an approach that the PCV has historically carried out to confiscate assets resulting from the Corruption to all those natural or legal persons, whether individuals or State officials, who are found to have misused public property.”
“Although the agenda for the session was received late on Thursday night, the Political Bureau considered that we should vote in favor of said project and express our position on the matter, in the sense that such a rule should serve to prevent impunity and punish with the imprisonment and the confiscation of assets, as an accessory measure”, added the leader of the PCV.
The deputy explained that for the PCV these measures should not only reach those who commit acts of corruption from high government positions or other levels of public administration, but also “individuals who promote them.”
For the communist bench, this law must include “the embezzlement and the crime of embezzlement of use, in which case they must compensate with their own properties the abusive use of public assets for the benefit of individuals.”
