The PCV, in the voice of Oscar Figuera, accused the PSUV and the Executive of holding an “extraordinary congress” of supposed bases to strip them of the party. He warned that there is an increase in the escalation of attacks against that organization
The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (CVP), Oscar Figuera, denounced on Monday, May 22, that the administration of Nicolás Maduro encouraged a “false positive” against that political awning. Sunday 21 in order to make the internal processes in the party unknown.
Figuera warned that an alleged “extraordinary” congress of the PCV bases was held over the weekend to promote the intervention of the “red rooster” party by the PSUV and hand it over, as has happened on other occasions, to people who agree with their ideology.
In this sense, the also deputy of the National Assembly elected in 2020 recalled that in 2018 a “commitment” had been demanded from Maduro and an agreement was signed, which was not fulfilled. This led to the progressive distancing between the PCV and the government party until three years ago, “when the Communist Party demanded that the National Government discuss its policy in order to continue accompanying it in the electoral arena. They refuse to discuss the policy and the Communist Party then decides to push for a different process.”
That was the moment when that party broke with the Great Patriotic Pole and decided to launch, together with the PPT and other peasant organizations, the Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APR), which at first proclaimed itself faithful to the “legacy” of Hugo Chávez; which resulted in a persecution by the Executive.

Oscar Figuera reiterated what the PCV has already said on other occasions about the alleged plan of the PSUV to want to prosecute them and strip them of their symbols, although he described that this attack has occurred in several phases. The first, according to him, was to create “conditions” so that in the congress that they held in 2022 there would be a boycott to take away the party but, as it did not work, they went to another phase.
A second phase was, according to what he recounted, was to look for presumed followers of the PCV who toured the country (apparently financed by the State) to offer the party militants various things such as houses, cars and food but, as Figuera recounted, he did not give As a result, they moved on to a new phase, which was to hold this parallel congress.
“With this action, an attempt is made to prevent the Communist Party from continuing to fulfill its role as a classist force at the service of the struggle of the Venezuelan people and the working class; prevent the Communist Party of Venezuela from continuing to promote the broad unity of workers’ action to strengthen the processes of organization and struggle of the Venezuelan people; prevent the Communist Party from continuing to bet on the regrouping of the revolutionary forces,” Figuera explained.
