The deputies of the Communist Party (PC), Karol Cariola and Daniela Serranomet this Wednesday with the Minister of Labor, Jeannette Jaraand leaders of the Coordinator for 40 Hours, in order to set up a technical work table for the project that reduces working time in the week.
The work table will invite workers from the country and small and medium-sized companies to participate, with whom the Ministry hopes to speak in the coming days.
According to the head of Labor, the objective is to prepare “the pre-legislative work that allows us that when we again present indications to the parliamentary motion raised by deputies Karol Cariola and the current minister, Camila Vallejoallows us to be able to legislate this bill and make it a reality, which is what many hope will be achieved”.
Minister Jara also explained that “we have met with the Coordinator for the 40 Hours, which has been the organization that has carried out, together with other organizations of workers from the social and trade union world, this citizen measure that the Government program of our President, Gabriel Boriccollects, endorses and undertakes to promote”.
“We are sure that reducing the working day to 40 hours is something that will allow us to advance in quality of life, in a better life for ourselves, for us, for our families and our commitment is to strengthen decent work in our country. ”, he added.
Meanwhile, deputy Cariola stated that “this is one of the most heartfelt demands of workers, precisely in the search to improve their quality of life, to have more time for their children.”
“It is not fair that workers in our country live to work, and that has been what we have constantly stated, why we have remained firm with the commitment of this bill,” added the legislator.
