The mayor of Paysandú, Nicolás Olivera, announced on his Twitter account that the Presidency decided to accept the private initiative for the company Arena Paysandú SAS that consists of the construction and operation of a hotel complex.
The place, as stated in the resolution of the Presidency, It will have a room for events and conventions, restaurants, shops and a casino. According to the page of the Paysandú Municipality, the investment will be US$ 22 million and the hotel will be built on the property where the old cinema was.

In addition to this hotel, Paysandú will have a closed multipurpose stadium next year, which will hold up to 5,000 people, will meet the International Basketball Federation standards and will enhance the department’s ability to capture sporting and artistic events. It implies an investment of US$ 4 million.
The winning project, led by the architects Pablo Kelbauskas, Paula Lafranconi and Diego Secco, It will take one year to complete and construction will begin in the second half of January, after the construction permit.
