In a match that was broadcast live on TV Brazil for the whole country, Paysandu came from behind, but defeated Guarani 2-1 this Saturday (14), at Estádio da Curuzu, in Belém, in a duel valid for the 26th round of Series B of the 2024 Brazilian Championship. With the result, achieved thanks to goals from Jean Dias and Kevyn (Douglas scored first for Bugre), the team from Pará returned to winning ways after nine games (four draws and five defeats) and, with 30 points, opened a small distance from the relegation zone, in 14th place. Guarani, on the other hand, remains in last place, with 21 points.
The match in Pará started with the home team pressing. Kevyn took a powerful shot and Vladimir made a great save in the left corner. However, the visitors soon began to feel more comfortable. They created two good opportunities before opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Pacheco crossed from the right and Douglas headed the ball into the right corner, but Diogo Silva was unable to save it.
In the rest of the first half, a Paysandu without ideas was unable to pose any threat to the opposing goal.
After the break, coach Márcio Fernandes, who was making his second stint at Papão, put two players on the field, Jean Dias and Borasi. The change had an immediate effect. Before the first minute of the second half was over, Jean Dias equalized with his first touch of the ball. He headed in the goal after a low cross from Edilson on the right.
At nine minutes, the turnaround came. After another cross from Edilson, this time from above, Kevyn scored almost by accident. Defender Douglas tried to head the ball away, but the ball hit Kevyn in the face, who was right behind him, and went in. Still shaken by the impact of the ball, the Paysandu full-back could barely celebrate the goal.
Papão’s reaction almost led to a third goal. Eslí García received a ball in the air inside the area and shot first time. Vladimir made a great save, putting it out for a corner. Guarani also came close to scoring. At 18 minutes, after a play on the right, the ball crossed the bicolor area and Caio Dantas, alone, finished off the post.
From then on, Paysandu managed to secure the important triumph, the first since July 20, when the team defeated Ponte Preta 1-0, also at Estádio da Curuzu.
With a new coach, Brusque defeats Vila Nova: 3-1
In Itajaí, at the Gigantão das Avenidas Stadium, Brusque had the debut of coach Marcelo Cabo against Vila Nova and the first impression was positive: a 3-1 victory over an opponent that is in the fight to move up to Série A.
The Quadricolor opened the scoring after just 37 seconds of the match, with a goal from Dentinho. At the beginning of the second half, they extended their lead with Diego Mathias. Elias scored for Vila and Keké gave the final score to the duel.
With the result, Brusque reaches 26 points, still within the relegation zone, in 18th. The team from Goiás remains at 42, in fourth, a position it could lose if Ceará (fifth, with 39) defeats Chapecoense at Arena Condá.
