In five years, from January 2020 to November 2024, the federal government does not disturb me, received 5,005,465 requests for blocking unwanted offers on payroll loans.
According to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), most blocking requests came from consumers from southeastern cities (53.3%). Then come the southern regions (18.6%); Northeast (14.6%); Midwest and North, 9.66% and 3.65%, respectively. The State of São Paulo, with 1,500,535 requests for blocking, leads complaints in the country, followed by Minas Gerais (561,977) and Rio de Janeiro (507,781).
According to Febraban, since 2020, 1,385 punishments were applied to companies for irregularities in the offer of consumer payroll. According to the entity, 53 companies that have committed irregularities are prevented from acting.
Infringements to the rules can also lead to financial institutions fines ranging from $ 45,000 to $ 1 million. The collected amounts are intended for financial education projects.
“Banks’ continuous monitoring aims to protect the consumer and rebuke abusive practices in offering and hiring payroll. The goal is to ensure transparency and confidence for those seeking this type of credit, which usually represents a vulnerable portion of the population, such as retirees and pensioners, ”says Febraban president Isaac Sidney.
