The adoption of digital wallets On the part of the population grows by leaps and bounds, due to the growing possibilities of use and the greatest development of the payment ecosystem in our country.
According to the BCR, the daily life with which users use their digital wallets to make transactions today, has led to the average payment being reduced in the last four years. At the end of the first semester of 2025, this was located in S/46, below what was registered in the same 2024 period (S/47), 2023 (S/52) and 2022 (S/62).
The Central Bank explained that the decrease in the average ticket is due to the greater dynamism of the transactions made between wallets of the same entity (from Yape A Yape or PLIN to PLIN), promoted by the incorporation of new cases of use, in particular those associated with trade functions within the applications themselves.
He indicated that these new cases of use allowed that, in the first six months of the year, the number of payments with digital wallets between users of the same entity grew 70.8%, while among users of different entities, 62.4% are moved away compared to the same period of the previous year.
Although the wallets are not the only means of payment for low value operations, they already concentrate 71.2%of the transactions, followed by card payments, with a 13.9%share, and transfers through the electronic compensation chamber, with 3.5%.
