Payments for school fees and school transportation can be tax deductible in the annual tax return of individuals, the Tax Administration Service (SAT) noted.
In a statement, the school explained that the payment for school transportation is tax-deductible when it is mandatory or when it is included in the tuition fee and that it applies to spouses, partners, ascending or descending relatives in a direct line or to themselves.
The SAT also reported that the deduction of tuition fees is based on the level of education taken at private educational institutions with authorization or official recognition of the validity of studies, according to the registry of schools that issue receipts with fiscal requirements.
To qualify for deductions, the invoice must include the tuition supplement from the educational institution, which details the payment of tuition and school transportation.
In addition, payment must be made by check, electronic transfer from the taxpayer’s bank account or by credit, debit or service card, since the deduction does not apply if payment is made in cash.
