The opening round of Series A1 (first division) of the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship came to an end on Monday night (16), with duels between São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul. Better for Santos and São Paulo, who won the duels against, respectively, Grêmio and Internacional.
At Vila Belmiro, in Santos, the home team defeated Mosqueteiras 2-1. Full-back Katrine opened the scoring five minutes into the first half. She appeared on the left and shot from the edge of the area, covering goalkeeper Raíssa, scoring a great goal. At 19, midfielder Yoreli Rincón took a corner from the right and defender Ana Alice completed it, increasing the advantage of Sereias da Vila.
In the final stage, in the 25th minute, midfielder Camila Pini raised the ball in the area on the left and Allyne, who had just replaced fellow full-back Camila Arrieta, tested for coverage to surprise goalkeeper Taty Amaro. The Gremistas had chances to draw, but the score never changed, with Santos winning the São Paulo team’s return to the first division.
São Paulo, in turn, visited the Gurias Coloradas at Sesc Protásio Alves, in Porto Alegre, and also won 2-1, coming from behind. The Gurias Coloradas took the lead in the fourth minute with Darlene, who received a beautiful pass from fellow striker Sole Jaimes in the area and played for coverage, as goalkeeper Carlinha left.
Before the break, at 48, defender Sorriso tried to clear the corner from the right and the ball hit the crossbar. Goalkeeper Gabi Barbieri was unable to defend and the remainder fell to Duda Serrana, who sent it into the net.
