The first vice president of Congress, Patricia Juárez, lowered her tone to the voices that within Parliament were already talking about a possible vacancy of President Dina Boluarte, after former Prime Minister Alberto Otárola confirmed that the president underwent surgery without informing Parliament.
“We must analyze this issue with a sense of elementary logic. I think there is a storm brewing in a glass of water, and without a glass. “I am not a defender of Mrs. Boluarte, but I do not believe that this constitutes a fault,” said the Fuerza Popular legislator, who considers that the case does not merit a cause for vacancy and that the intervention did not interrupt the decision-making of the chairwoman.
Juárez recalled that there is no rule in the Constitution that indicates that the president must report to Congress about medical interventions or any illness, especially if these do not imply a long-term incapacity in her functions.
“I don’t see a cause for vacancy, because she may have a flu problem and that doesn’t disqualify her in any way. “It is an issue that does not really merit further discussion,” said the parliamentarian.
After hearing what Otárola said in the Oversight Commission, the president of this working group Juan Burgos said that this could be a cause for vacancy.
In his speech in Audit, the former premier pointed out that despite the operation, he never neglected his work.
“On the indicated dates, the president of the republic underwent a surgical procedure, but in this surgical procedure, as happens to any person, she was not neglecting her duties that were her responsibility and I know this because I was president of the Council of Ministers and she was in permanent contact with the undersigned,” said Otárola.
