The Permanent Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Judiciary, chaired by Supreme Judge Juan Carlos Checkley, annulled the suspension for 24 months against Patricia Benavides after the Prosecutor’s Office presented this request to stop the questioned decision of the National Board of Justice (JNJ) to replace it in the position of Prosecutor of the Nation. With this decision, the prosecutor’s former would not have any judicial measure against him.
Consequently, the Public Ministry, led by Delia Espinoza, must fulfill the criticized decision of the JNJ to return to Benavides Vargas as Supreme Prosecutor.
The main argument of the Supreme Court Judges to annul the suspension was based on the decision made by the subcommission of constitutional accusations of Congress on the last Friday, July 25 of rejecting the constitutional complaint presented by the Prosecutor’s Office against Benavides for the alleged crimes of bribery, abuse of personal authority and cover -up.
