Patients Colombia presented a right to petition before the Attorney General’s Office to demand protection of the fundamental right to health.
In the document, civil society requests from the Public Ministry a disciplinary research against him health minister and Social Protection, Guillermo Alfonso Jaramilloand the national superintendent of Health, Helver Giovanni Rubiano García, as well as the formal answers to the many questions that the patient organizations have addressed to the entities and their representatives and that the national government has not resolved.
The movement, which brings together 199 patient organizations throughout the national territory, in the letter raises the urgent need for intervention by the Attorney General’s Office due to the impacts on the fundamental right to health, especially for patients in vulnerable situations.
Therefore, patients request coordinated intervention of various delegates of the Attorney General’s Office, who protect human and social rights.
In this regard, Denis Silvaspokesperson for Patients Colombia, stated that: “We present the right to petition before the Attorney General’s Office as a call to the rights protection organizations to immediately intervene in the face of the current deficiencies of the Colombian health system and take measures against the conscious decisions that are being adopted by the national government. that constitute a direct violation of the right to health and the participation of civil society, particularly patient organizations, in public decisions that affect the quality of life of millions of people in the country.”.
It is worth mentioning that Patients Colombia also carried out this action before the Attorney General’s Office to request that it allow and arrange the way to help establish a clear regulatory framework that protect patients’ rights and the sustainability of the health system, thinking about respect and the comprehensive and effective guarantee of rights and correct administrative management.
