He Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia highlighted some milestones achieved throughout 2024 with the aim of guaranteeing a modern, quality and inclusive service of immigration policies for all citizens. What were the record numbers and achievements reported by the Foreign Ministry?
This year, the national government fulfilled its commitment to offer more and better services to Colombians residing outside the country.
In this sense, Record numbers were reached in the delivery of passports, cWith a total of 418,262 documents granted in Colombiato which are added 55,577 processed in the Colombian consulates and 5,786 managed in the Service Centers in Bogotá.
Among these proceduress, 674 were free, providing support to Colombian families who are in a vulnerable situation, while 28 passports were processed completely online, reflecting the drive towards digitalization of consular services.
One of the most significant achievements of this year wasand the implementation of a new appointment scheduling systemdesigned to improve citizens’ experience in managing procedures.

Foreign Ministry and technological advances: new processes and more renovations
In recent months, The Foreign Ministry began an update process with advanced technology that facilitates and reduces the costs of passport issuance. In addition, according to their classification in Sisbén, some families can obtain a special discount in order to make their purchase more accessible.

Beyond the reduction in passport fees, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs implemented a new process that simplifies the requirements to update the passport of Colombian minors, and enabled the possibility of carrying out online renewals, ensuring an inclusive, agile, safe and modern experience for all Colombians.
These actions were carried out through the network of 111 Colombian Consulates abroad, 64 Embassies and 47 Consular Sections in the Embassies, covering the five continents.
