Passengers protest Jet Blue flight delays

Despite the fact that the authorities of the agencies that regulate Dominican aviation met with Jet Blue executives to improve their services and treatment of Dominican travelers, the situation continues, causing protests every day.

LAS AMERICAS AIRPORT.- Dozens of passengers with reservations to New York on the American airline Jet Blue, protested yesterday for much of the night, due to the constant delays of flights to that destination in the United States.

Despite the fact that even the authorities of the agencies that regulate Dominican aviation met with Jet Blue executives to improve their services and treatment of Dominican travelers, the situation continues, causing protests every day.

María del Carmen de Jesús, Ambal Arias Acevedo and Nieve Guillermo Fernández, three Creoles with reservations on flight 1110 that would leave Las Américas Airport at 6:30 in the afternoon, taking off at 3:30 in the morning today, nine hours late.

“We arrived in New York today at 7:33 in the morning, sleepy and hungry because they don’t offer anything to the passengers on board,” said the three ladies in conversations with journalists and relatives who were concerned about the situation.

They considered that the national authorities should apply sanctions to Jet Blue for the allegedly irresponsible way in which it has been acting with passengers, delaying the departure of flights for five, six and up to nine hours, without giving any explanation.

On several occasions, members of the National Police, Politur and private security companies have had to intervene to control enraged passengers who riot at the counters of the US airline, demanding explanations for flight delays.

Several days ago, officials from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and the Airport Department, met with Jet Blue executives with the aim of the airline improving its services and treatment of travelers. .

However, despite the fact that the airline promised to correct flaws and improve the quality of its services to users, the situation persists and the protests do not stop at the Las Américas International Airport by travelers.
