According to RPP Noticias, citizens have had to spend more money than expected by staying extra days in the city of Cusco for accommodation and food. The amount rises up to S/250 per day.

That is the case of Mrs. Kelly Nuñonca, who lives in Arequipa, and hopes that her flight will be rescheduled from December 9. She arrived in Cusco for vacation, but to date she cannot leave the city.

Passengers are still stranded at the Velasco Astete airport

“I have been since the 9th. I have come from Arequipa with my husband and my two children. We have budgeted all our expenses until the 9th and the budget is no longer enough. We are spending approximately S/250 daily that escapes from our economy. Until yesterday I stretched the money, and for today it is not enough for me at all. I’m asking the authorities to make a humanitarian flight. We have a job to go to and we are at risk of losing it”, he pointed.

Meanwhile, Mr. Josué Quispe -who comes from Lima- makes the same request for a humanitarian flight because his father passed away last Tuesday and he needs to travel to the capital to see him off.

Please to the Corpac company that there is a humanitarian plane. I want to be with my dad, he passed away yesterday and I want to be at his funeral. I’m desperate, I don’t know what to do. I ask the authorities to make a humanitarian flight. I would like you to please attend to us. I want to go to my dad to be at his funeral with my family ”, he asked with a cracked voice.
