Paso de los Toros has a new passenger terminal

The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou participated, this Tuesday the 13th, in the inauguration of the bus terminal in Paso de los Toros, Tacuarembó. On the occasion, he highlighted the commitment of the community and the sense of belonging of the residents of the city who contribute to its growth. “It is the spirit of a community that makes it great and helps towns develop,” he said.

The terminal, located in front of the Paseo del Ferrocarril, on Rómulo Mangini streets and Baltasar Brum avenue, was executed by the Municipality of Tacuarembó and co-financed by the Interior Development Fund (FDI), for a total investment of more than 125 million of weights.

In his oratory, Lacalle Pou reflected on the importance, from the Government, of interpreting popular sentiment. “Sometimes it is difficult to know how to understand, read, value and be fair with what the city needs,” said the president.

In this sense, he stressed that Paso de los Toros tells the rulers what they need, thanks to the existence of the FDI, and that this is the real decentralization promoted by the central administration.

“It is the spirit of a community that makes it great, and the sense of belonging and locality, which helps the towns to develop,” he said.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Tacuarembó, Wilson Ezquerra, assured that without the efforts of the national government, this work would not be possible. “It ranks Paso de los Toros and provides a great service,” he said.

On the day, the president was also accompanied by the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado; the president of the State Health Services Administration (ASSE), Leonardo Cipriani, and the mayor of the city, Luis Irigoin, among other national and departmental authorities.

The inaugurated infrastructure includes a covered building part of 934 square meters, and another area destined for the departure and arrival platforms, partially roofed, of 902 square meters.

The ceremony culminated with the inaugural arrival of a bus at the new passenger terminal, which was received by President Lacalle Pou. Presidency
