Paso Canoas-Río Sereno-Piedra Candela highway begins construction for $66.5 million

The president of the republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, declared the construction work to have begun on the highway that runs from Paso Canoas, in Progreso, to Río Sereno, in Renacimiento, province of Chiriquí, a 74 km road valued at 66.5 million Balboa.

This highway, which runs along the border line between Panama and Costa Rica through Renacimiento and Paso Canoas in Barú, aims to promote the connectivity of the primary sector of these border areas, with the commercial area of ​​Paso Canoa and from there to the markets. of David, Central Provinces and Panama.

The President of the Republic affirmed that it is an important infrastructure project for the development of this western part of the country, which seeks to energize and promote the border communities with Costa Rica and that it will benefit more than 17,000 Panamanians in the region.

The work includes the construction of 7 vehicular bridges and the rehabilitation of 1, in addition to the construction of 3 critical points, access to homes and businesses, bus stops, improvements to the existing alignment, sidewalks, signs, drainage and more, detailed President Cortizo .

Public Works Minister Rafael Sabonge stressed that trade, tourism and agricultural production will be the most impacted by these 74 km of highway in this area of ​​the Panama-Costa Rica border.
