The lives of two girls who were left homeless in 2009 marked the beginning of an institution that today houses around 40 girls. And it is that the urgency of refuge and emotional care of these minors motivated Dalma Florián Santana to create the Pasitos de Jesús Foundation.
With few personal resources, but with the desire to help and change the harsh reality that many of these girls, Florián created the orphanage on August 24, 2009, which is changing the future of infants based on the love and faith.
Florián Santana, started the draft when they told him about the case of a girl suffering from Down syndrome and another of nationality Haitian that she had been sexually abused, it was at that moment that the woman contacted the Prosecutor’s Office, and discussed the situation with the community members of the neighborhood council.
What motivated her to create el hostel home It was that when he arrived at a place to seek protection for the girls, they had been told that it was full, that was when he made the decision to rent a small house to support the minors.
who after having the orders of the prosecution and CONANI began to reach situations of abused, abandoned and mistreated girls, and that is how Pasitos de Jesús emerged.
Florián remembers that he started with nothing. Worked in the town hall and the house he took in to start the project paid 6 thousand pesos.
She says that when the owner of the house saw what she was using the home for, she lowered it to 3,000. He said that he used the remaining money to make purchases.
The lady says that the children reach them through the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI), the prosecution, the neighborhood council and the National Police.
In relation to the case of the two girls who motivated Dalma Florián to create the home, one of them continues there, the girl with special conditions who is already 24 years old.
But before sending the girls to the foundation, CONANI or the Prosecutor’s officeThe first thing he does is take them to the medical examiner and depending on the situation that is given, an evaluation is made to know if the minor was abused or not.
The story is as moving as the fate of some of the girls that, thanks to the tenacity of the promoter of the project, today they have a space, food and education.
