Three miners ended up buried by tons of earth after they found themselves working in a mine, where a hill made up of several slopes slipped. It happened this Saturday at the Colquijirca Mining Unit, Tinyahuarcode district, in the Pasco region.
This reportedly caused the death of at least one worker and two others were left missing; In addition, only one body has been recovered. The other two are believed to have died.
The accident occurred early this Saturday, March 19, when a landslide in the pit buried the workers. The miners belonged to the Explomin and San Martín companies, subcontractors of the El Brocal mining company.
“Immediately after the event occurred, search and rescue efforts began as part of the El Brocal emergency management plan”reported the mining company.
It was indicated that the causes of the accident are under investigation. The identities of the buried miners could not be confirmed at the close of this note.
