Pasco: older adult disappears after falling into an overflowing river while crossing an artisanal bridge

An older adult lost his life after falling into the Huachón River, which is overflowing due to intense rains, when he was trying to cross a handmade bridge in the Alancoy sector, Huachón district, Pasco region.

The victim was identified as Pedro Espinoza (65), who on Saturday, January 17, tried to cross the precarious structure, which gave way due to the force of the flow, causing him to fall and subsequently disappear into the waters.

After the incident, only its load of firewood was found downstream, while members of the National Police, Serenazgo, local authorities and residents began search work, despite the risk posed by the increase in flow.

The authorities urged the hamlets located downstream to remain on alert and report any signs to the Huachón police station or Serenazgo.

The fact once again highlights the vulnerability of rural areas, where the lack of safe infrastructure exposes the population to serious risks during the rainy season.
