PAS Collective: Organized crime has reached extreme levels and it is urgent that the Government confront it firmly

He PAS Collective – Safe Countrya citizen organization that emerged in response to the citizen insecurity product of illicit activities in Peru, expressed his concern about the serious acts of violence linked to illegal economies, which, in just two weeks, have been threatening the lives and safety of all Peruvians.

He pointed out that the level of violence we are reaching must generate a sense of urgency in the Government, so that concrete actions are taken immediately.

“First of all, the acts of violence that occurred in the La Libertad region have shaken all of Peru: after last week the criminal gangs associated with illegal mining in Pataz blew up high voltage towers on two occasions, yesterday we witnessed an attack with explosives against the headquarters of the Public Ministry in the city of
Trujillo. This is a clear challenge and threat from organized crime against institutions and security,” their statement reads.

He adds that “to this is added the macabre discovery of 5 bodies in a mass grave in the area of ​​La Pampa, in Madre de Dios, where fights between criminal gangs linked to illegal activities continually claim lives.

The PAS Collective urged the Executive and the Congress of the Republic “to work to not weaken the regulations that allow the fight against organized crime; and rather, to strengthen the functions of the administration of justice and the National Police. In that context also “A reform of the Public Ministry and the Judiciary is necessary.”

“The State has to guarantee the security of all Peruvians and formal companies that wish to invest and work for the development of the country. We must not allow terror to once again darken everyone’s future,” the document concludes.
