Partner of Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo demands his freedom: Stop with so much evil

Gendarme argentino Nahuel Gallo

María Alexandra Gómez said that her husband, Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo, has not had access to a private lawyer or consular assistance after 11 months arbitrarily detained in Venezuela. “This is not an arrest, this is not that Nahuel is imprisoned as the normalizers have been saying for a long time (…) Nahuel is in a forced disappearance, and that is a crime against humanity”

The Argentine Gerdarme Nahuel Agustín Gallo served 11 months in forced disappearance after being detained by Venezuelan security forces. His partner, María Alexandra Gómez, denounced the absolute lack of official information, the total isolation he suffers and the systematic violation of his human rights.

«Stop with so much evil and injustice, it is too much, what you are doing is destroying an entire family. “Nahuel has to return home, this injustice has to end,” Gómez wrote in his social networkswhere he posted a video in which he demands the Argentine’s freedom.

Nahuel Gallo was detained on December 8, 2024 at the immigration headquarters in San Antonio del Táchira, when he was on his way to visit his wife and son, under the pretext of an interview with the immigration police. He was handed over to officials from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), who “illegally” transferred him to Caracas. Since then, his family has not had physical or telephone contact.

On December 27, the Public Ministry stated that the Argentine citizen had been charged with terrorism and presented to court.

However, Gómez denied this version: «Nahuel was never presented before any court. “Nahuel does not even have an open criminal case in Venezuela, Nahuel does not have a file and all his human and fundamental rights have been violated.”

She also asserted that her husband has not had access to a private lawyer or consular assistance. “This is not an arrest, this is not that Nahuel is imprisoned as the normalizers have been saying for a long time (…) Nahuel is in a forced disappearance, and that is a crime against humanity.”

He expressed that he has had to hide the situation from his young son. «For months I’ve been telling him that his dad is working, that he’s going to come, that he’s going to give him a kiss soon. But I don’t have any information that gives me peace of mind that Nahuel is fine or that he will return.

Gómez assured that they have made all possible complaints to national and international organizations, but have not received answers. «What else has to happen for Nahuel to return home? (…) Crimes against humanity do not prescribe. “I know that Nahuel is going to have justice and I know that he is going to have freedom.”

*Journalism in Venezuela is carried out in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments in place to punish the word, especially the laws “against hate”, “against fascism” and “against the blockade.” This content was written taking into consideration the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
