Parties and leaders show solidarity with María Corina Machado for the MP's investigation

The Public Ministry reported in a statement that it was beginning an investigation against the opposition leader María Corina Machado for allegedly committing three crimes in which treason is mentioned, after she supported a bill in the US called the Bolívar Law.

Several parties and political leaders expressed solidarity with the opposition leader María Corina Machado, after the night of this Friday, November 22, the Public Ministry (MP) announced an investigation against her for the crimes of treason against the country for supporting the ” Bolívar Law” approved by the US House of Representatives.

“At Voluntad Popular (VP) we strongly reject the alleged investigation, which is nothing more than a farce, that the regime’s prosecutor opened against our leader. We alert the international community that this is a new excuse for the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro to persecute and detain the democratic leader of Venezuelans,” said VP.

The party pointed out that no free country in the world should tolerate any action that threatens the safety of María Corina Machado. “In Venezuela we all know, the Prosecutor’s Office acts as the judicial arm of the dictatorshipso any supposed investigation or decision has no credibility or legal basis,” they published in X.

Edmundo González Urrutia, for his part, said that the accusation against Machado “is not only an attack against her, but against all Venezuelans who dream of freedom and justice.” «The regime demonstrates, once again, its fear of a woman who has mobilized an entire nation and who, despite persecution, continues to advance so that the sovereign will of all Venezuelans is recognized. “They ignore that María Corina’s commitment to the well-being of Venezuelans is unbreakable.”

According to the Public Ministry, the statements that María Corina Machado would have made regarding the bill approved by the US House of Representatives – called the Bolívar Law – “seriously involve her and constitute the commission of the crimes of treason; conspiracy with foreign countries and association to commit a crime,” the agency reported on the night of November 22 in a statement.

The former governor of the state of Bolívar, Andrés Velásquez, stated that “the dictatorship makes another accusation against María Corina Machado, this time for treason against the country,” for which he sent his solidarity to the opposition leader.

Primero Justicia also rejected the investigation and stated that “the only traitors to the country have been those who in the last 25 years have led the country to the worst political, economic and social crisis, a situation that the Venezuelan people suffer every day.”
