Some 2,000 participants from more than 60 countries will take part in the IV International Convention Cuba-Health 2022 and two fairs associated with it, as confirmed by its organizers on Wednesday.
The events will take place next week, starting on Monday, October 17, at a time when the Island is going through a complex economic situation, and will take place at the Convention Center and the Pabexpo fairgrounds, respectively.
The Cuba-Health 2022 International Convention, which will close its sessions on Friday 21, will bring together academics, researchers, authorities and representatives of international health organizations and the United Nations system, such as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), whose director, Dr. Carissa Etienne will be present at the appointment.
In addition, the attendance of more than 50 official delegations, chaired by ministers, deputy ministers and national directors of Health, is expected to attend, a figure higher than that of the previous edition, in 2018, according to Dr. Ileana Morales, director of Science and Technological Innovation of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) and executive secretary of the Convention.

Among the regions represented at the meeting are Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Europe, while Dr. Morales confirmed, when asked by OnCubathe assistance of top-tier specialists from the United States.
The Convention, as he explained, will have a “high scientific level” and will serve as an umbrella for the simultaneous development of thirty academic events, focused on aspects of population public health and with the declared purpose of promoting a sustainable health approach in a post-pandemic scenario.
Among the topics that will be addressed in keynote speeches, panels, symposiums and presentations of papers during the meeting are Hygiene and Epidemiology, communicable diseases such as COVID-19 and dengue, Health promotion, science and innovation Technology in Health, Oral Health, and Maternal, Child and Geriatric Health, among others.
In addition, the 120 years of PAHO will be honored, an occasion for which five books authored by Cuban experts and directors of that organization will be presented, and a round table will be held on the results of the Cuban anticovid vaccination strategy. There will also be space for exhibitions, stamp cancellations, visits to healthcare and scientific centers, and artistic moments.
As for the fairs, it is the Health for All Trade Fair, which is now in its 15th edition, and the first version of the International Medical Tourism and Well-being Fair, which will also have associated theoretical spaces and during which awaits the signing of contracts, letters of intent, memorandums of understanding, and the exhibition of new technologies, national and foreign products and services.
191 exhibitors, 130 delegates from 24 countries and more than 55 foreign companies, as well as 61 national entities, will be present at the first commercial exchange; while the second has already confirmed more than 50 companies and a hundred participating delegates.
During them, the II International Forum on Foreign Investment in the Health sector will be held and, for the first time, the Health Tourism Prize will be awarded to leading entities and figures in this field. Both fairs, which are self-financed according to their organizers, will begin on October 17 and will conclude their activities on the 20th, one day before the Convention closes.
