The National Assembly (AN) agreed to manage the full incorporation of Venezuela into the Parliament of the Common Market of the South (Parlasur) during the plenary meeting of the regional body, which will take place on May 29, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
This was reported on Wednesday by the president of the Venezuelan delegation of Parlasur, and first vice president of the AN, deputy Pedro Infante (PSUV/Capital Department), after the installation of the parliamentary body that took place in the “Federation Room” of the Federal Legislative Palace.
According to a press release from the National Assembly, Infante indicated that the Venezuelan chapter of Parlasur will make all efforts for the nation to be considered, once again, a full member of Parlasur.
He recalled that Venezuela was disincorporated from that regional parliament in 2017, due to international pressure.
He stressed that Parlasur is an instance of South American integration that will undoubtedly help the Venezuelan people. In turn, he indicated that they will strengthen the parliamentary friendship groups with Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina to deepen relations.
The deputy clarified that the delegation that will attend the Plenary of Parlasur will be made up of parliamentarians from the factions of the Homeland and the opposition. He also added that the members of the subcommittees that will make up Parlasur-Venezuela were appointed at the meeting.
In addition to deputy Pedro Infante as president, the Venezuelan chapter of Parlasur It was made up of parliamentarians Iris Valera (PSUV/Nacional), as head of the delegation; Saúl Ortega (PSUV/Carabobo), Nancy Pérez (PSUV/Barinas), Nicia Maldonado (PSUV/Nacional), Blanca Eekhout (PSUV/Miranda), Ricardo Sánchez (AC/Nacional), Carlos Gamarra (PSUV/Yaracuy), José Gregorio Correa (AD/National), Imad Saab Saab (PSUV/Zulia), Victoria Mata (PSUV/Bolívar) and Gilberto Jesús Giménez (MEP/National).
