The Minister of Justice, José Tello Alfaro, highlighted yesterday the statement signed by more than 100 members of the Mexican Parliament, in which they “strongly reject the interventionist attitude of the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO)” in the internal affairs of Peru, in the midst of the political crisis it is going through, with 27 deaths to date, after the failed coup d’état perpetrated by former president Pedro Castillo.
“Peru is respected!” Tello exclaimed from his social networks in support of what was expressed by a sector of the Legislative of the Aztec country.
In the joint statement, released last Thursday by the Mexican deputy Mariana Gómez del Campo (National Action Party), AMLO’s conduct is described as “openly contrary to the constitutional principles of self-determination of peoples and non-intervention.”
The signed Mexican legislators also condemn the justification made by the president of their country regarding the self-coup declared by Castillo on Wednesday, December 7, which consequently produced his vacancy from office.
Likewise, they express solidarity with the Peruvian legislators for the grievances received and wish President Dina Boluarte success in her task to restore peace and stability in the country.
