Parliamentarians ask to reject Dominga: “If they approve it, the soul of the Government dies”

A group of deputies met with the Segpres minister, Ana Lya Uriarte, and handed her a letter signed by 45 parliamentarians to “review in detail” the background of the Dominga project, located in the coastal area of the Coquimbo Region.

Specifically, the parliamentarians Daniel Manouchehri (PS), Daniella Cicardini (PS), Leonardo Soto (PS), Daniel Melo (PS), Cristián Tapia (IND) and Carolina Tello (PC), together with Rubén Oyarzo ( PDG) and Erika Olivera (IND).

After the meeting, Deputy Manouchehri pointed out that “Dominga is death and corruption. We believe that it is a disastrous project, it has destructive effects and ecocide in a sacred place for nature. If the Government approves Dominga, the soul of the Government dies ” .

Along the same lines, Cicardini declared that “once again raising his voice to ask our Government to say loud and clear, and definitively, no to Dominga. This is a terribly disastrous project, because it will generate irreversible damage “.

For legislators, the questioned project “will impact the entire ecosystem.” “It is an infragmentable, fragile and unique ecosystem in the country and the world. It constitutes, therefore, an environmental, national and global heritage,” they argued.

Likewise, they requested the Executive that “the exposed background be reviewed in detail and the irreparable consequences that its approval will generate be considered.”
