The National Assembly (AN) approved in the ordinary session this Thursday, a draft agreement to commemorate the National Day of the Communes.
The first vice president of the AN, Iris Valera, indicated that the communes have a constitutional basis because the Magna Carta establishes that Venezuelan democracy is protagonist and participatory, and the communes are the reflection of the exercise of the constitutional mandate.
Deputy Blanca Eekhout was in charge of presenting the document and stressed that the communes and the people of Venezuela in generalare an example of resistance and independence in the world.
He added that this event responds to the order that Commander Hugo Chávez made on October 20, 2012 to build the communes as a central theme of the Bolivarian project.
“In the midst of the difficulties we have had, only popular power is capable of ensure resistance and progress, the construction of the future. Only a people that lives in community and in communion is capable of resisting and advancing », she expressed.
In relation to this, he said that one of the difficulties in which popular power has shown its ability to resist has been with the Covid-19 pandemic and in the midst of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States.
The deputy stressed that the communes are the alternative model to capitalism that gives us death and destruction.
