Parlatino will discuss norms against sexual corruption, behavior of Covid-19 and migration

The Commissions for Gender Equality, Health and Political Affairs of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), will meet on September 28 and 29 in Panama to address problems that affect the countries of the region such as sexual corruption, extortion, migratory flows and epidemiological behavior of Covid-19.

Within the work agenda of the Gender Equality Commission, topics related to the evaluation of international cooperation for public policies for children, adolescents and youth will be analyzed.

Likewise, the parliamentarians will discuss the current situation of children, adolescents and youth in the region and the multidimensional impacts of Covid-19 and the post-pandemic period, as well as the draft model law against sexual corruption and extortion.

On the other hand, the Health Commission will discuss the epidemiological behavior of Covid-19 and monkeypox, their impacts and evolution in Latin America and the Caribbean. Also on the agenda is the launch of the Public-Private Council for the Fight and Prevention of Illicit Trade and Transnational Organized Crime. It should be noted that discussions of the draft model law to prevent maternal and child morbidity and mortality in rural areas will also continue.

It is worth mentioning that the Political Affairs Commission within the work contemplates violence as an anti-democratic practice in the electoral processes of Latin America and the Caribbean in aspects of prevention, respect and protection of the candidates, where each country will present its report and inputs for the preparation of a draft declaration. In addition, migration will be analyzed: awareness and contributions for the model law that guarantees the rights of migrants with the contributions of member nations.
