The Union of National Personnel (UPCN) and the Association of State Workers (ATE) agreed with the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Raquel “Kelly” Olmos, the last stretch of the parity 2022 (from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023), with a year-on-year salary increase of 97%.
The state unions met with the Minister of the Labor Portfolio at 3:00 p.m., and agreed on three new stages of salary increases, corresponding to 10% for February, 8% for March and 5.13% for April. As expected, both the Government and the unions will have to meet again in the middle of the year to agree on the new parity 2023.
about the new parity by 2023, The Government anticipated that it intends to put a ceiling of close to 60% increase, due to the projections from the Ministry of Economy, chaired by Sergio Massa, and the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, headed by Miguel Pesce. These two officials defended that value for the year 2023 in the presentation of the 2023 Budget project.
However, both ATE and the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) immediately showed their discontent with such an initiative. On behalf of the union of state workers, the assistant secretary, Rodolfo Aguiar, said that “The drop in inflation is not consolidated and the budget forecasts have never been met. It is inadmissible to try to determine a ceiling of 60%, (…) it is contrary to the parity free that the Government always proposed”.
Likewise, the Secretary of International Relations of the Construction Workers’ Union of the Argentine Republic (UOCRA), Gerardo Martínez, asserted that “the parity are free and sovereign in each sector, the CGT does not accept any ceiling or interference from politics so that the wages be variant of adjustment”.
