Parishioners sing "Las mañanitas" to their Bishop Álvarez in the Cathedral of Matagalpa

Parishioners who participated in the Eucharist this Sunday, held at the San Pedro Apóstol Cathedral Church, in Matagalpa; They took the opportunity to sing “Las mañanitas” to Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, bishops of that Diocese. The hierarch, hostage to the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, turns 56 this November 27.

The altar of the temple was decorated with bouquets of flowers and a photo of the prelate. The dozens of believers present did not hesitate to applaud for almost a minute for this special date, where the religious will not be able to be with them to celebrate, because he is a prisoner of the Nicaraguan regime.

“Thanksgiving for the life of Monsignor Rolando José Álvarez Lagos, Bishop of the Diocese of Matagalpa and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Estelí,” read a post on the Facebook page of the Diocese of Matagalpa.

“This Advent season is a very special day for the Diocese of Matagalpa because we celebrate his birthday with our bishop. Long live Monsignor Rolando! Long live our shepherd! Long live Christ the King of the Universe!” exalted Father Jader Guido, second vicar of the cathedral, who invited everyone present to sing “Las mañanitas” to the bishop of Matagalpa.

In images of the transmission through the Facebook page of the Diocese, it was possible to see parishioners who cried with emotion while they sang the song of celebration and who at the same time cheered on the name of the religious.

«To heaven our thanks to the Lord for this great man who has allowed us as a pastor. Our admiration, our affection and love, for our Bishop Monsignor Rolando. Congratulations to where he is », expressed the priest Guido.

Monsignor Álvarez was kidnapped on August 19, after Daniel Ortega’s Police assaulted the Episcopal Priest of Matagalpa where he was locked up for 16 days from the fourth of the same month, after the permanent siege of riot police that prevented him from leaving.

The police institution, under the command of the sanctioned general commissioner Francisco Díaz, argues that he is in “home custody” and allegedly investigated for organizing “violent groups.”

Officially, the place where the prelate is kidnapped is unknown, the Nicaraguan dictatorship has limited itself to informing that he is at the home of some relatives, but is silent about the physical condition and legal situation against Álvarez.
