The parents of the private school in Lambaré where a case of sexual abuse was registered announced a meeting with the Minister of Education, in order to talk about the intervention process. They demand representation throughout this process.
Leonor Fernández, representative of the parents of the educational institution, confirmed that they managed to meet with the auditors of the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC), in order to discuss the work that will be carried out in the coming days.
On the occasion, they were informed about the work mechanism and the actions that they will be promoting within the framework of this intervention process that occurs after the report of sexual abuse against a student.
The MEC intervenors showed interest in working with parents and are open to hearing suggestions, according to what he said.
“We don’t want our children to be here and worse things happen. As parents, we ask that their safety be guaranteed,” Fernandez emphasized to the media.
Likewise, he commented that there are many parents who do not agree with the suspension of face-to-face classes and in the same way want to send their children to school, so the MEC will have the last word on this issue.
Fernández announced that they will meet in the next few hours with the Minister of Education, Ricardo Zárate, to guarantee the representation of parents throughout this process as quickly as possible.
As he commented, at the moment no other complaints were received about new cases of sexual abuse in the institution.
