The president of the Republic, gabriel boric, granted this past Friday (January 30) a pardon to 13 people so that they could access their freedom. Of those pardoned, 12 correspond to convictions for acts of violence of the social outbreak and one for the ex-frontist, Jorge Mateluna.
This decision caused the opposition to get off the security table in addition to the National Renovation (RN) search for a constitutional accusation against the Minister of Justice, Marcela Rios.

“We had seen on the part of the Government an evolution from the plebiscite towards more center-left views, but always moderate. And this is a return to favoring radical sectors of Octobrism. So obviously it is a setback, which will mark a before and a later regarding the relationship with the government,” said Schalper.
He also indicated that from Chile Vamos will create a parallel agenda from Congress on security. The indications would be announced in the coming days.
“Blackmail Accusation”
The ruling party has criticized the attitude that the right has taken with respect to this decision, since they affirm that it is a legal tool and a campaign commitment of the President.
The General Secretary of the Communist Party, lautaro carmonain interview with Radio Cooperativeindicated that a blackmail has been lifted with respect to the position of the public policies of the State in terms of security.
“Each one (of those involved) will have to answer to himself, to his people and to history, for a position that, I insist, is nothing more than blackmail,” he added.
For his part, the Minister of Social Development, Giorgio Jacksonhe specified that the idea of the security table is to reach an agreement on the most important issues for the population.
“All the people in the house want -on issues such as security- that all the parties and all the political colors can reach as much agreement as possible so that people are safer,” he added.
