The Paranapiacaba Winter Festival (FIP) returns to face-to-face format, after two years of suspension due to the covid-19 pandemic. The 21st edition of the event takes place this Saturday (23) and Sunday (24) of July, in the streets of the English village in Santo André (SP), built in the first half of the 19th century, with music and art attractions.
the children’s show gigantic, by Cia Irmãos Becker, opens the program today at 11 am at Espaço Viradouro, on Rua da Estação. From then on, every hour there will be a presentation starting from somewhere in Paranapiacaba. The activities will be distributed on the stages of the Mercado and Rua Direita, in the Coreto and in the Espaço Viradouro, in addition to itinerant presentations that roam the streets of the village.
Also on Saturday, the procession ABC women, the Bloco will be the first itinerant attraction to travel through the streets of the village, at 12:00. The streets will also be occupied by the Barmú Family group with clowning activities. The Trio Mundi Banda will be the last procession on Saturday and starts at 4 pm.
The event’s stages will receive presentations such as the choro group Tantos 4; by Cláudia Lima and Otis Trio, who will present a sound that fuses aspects of contemporary music with Jazz and popular chants; the band PiXAiM Forró, which features original and classic compositions, such as by Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos and Jackson do Pandeiro; and Lu Domingues, with the rhythm of samba.
Sunday
Tomorrow (24), the clowns of the Circulartes group welcome visitors arriving by train at 10 am on the Expresso Turístico platform, on Avenida Schnnor. On the stage at Rua Direita, the program for the second day of the festival officially begins, with songwriter and singer Mariane Mattoso singing MPB, starting at 11 am.
During the afternoon, the public will be able to check the presentation of hip hop from the Furiah group; O rock in the village, with the band Theories of Modern Love, followed by Banda Montanha, the last performance of the event, at 18:00. On the day, there will also be attractions of MPB, samba and Indian instrumental music.
On the streets, the itinerant attractions on Sunday start at 12:00, with the procession of the Folia de Reis São Francisco de Assis, which takes the public to the Viradouro space for its presentation. The public will also be able to follow the clowning of Julian Granito, the mime of Lulua Xiga and B.Boy Buiu, and the procession of Samba de Terreiro de Mauá.
The festival is free and will have collection points for items such as non-perishable food and warm clothing for the Social Solidarity Fund.

This year, there will be two food courts, one in Galpão das Oficinas, on Rua da Estação, and the other along almost the entire length of Rua Antonio Olyntho, where Clube União Lyra Serrano is located. Opening hours will be from 10 am to 7:30 pm.
According to the city hall of Santo André, to get to the festival by private vehicle, the visitor must leave the car or motorcycle in the event parking lot located on Rodovia Dep. Adib Chammas, at kilometer 47, and take one of the FIP minibuses, from 10 am to 6 pm, which will take everyone to the entrance to the lower part of Paranapiacaba.
In the opposite direction, to return to the parking lot, the last minibus will leave the village at 20:00. there will also be vans made available to the public. Parking fees are R$50 for cars, R$40 for motorcycles, R$100 for vans and R$ 200 for buses.
In public transport, the route to Paranapiacaba can be done by line 040, leaving from the Prefeito Saladino Bus Terminal, or by line 424, which leaves from the CPTM Rio Grande da Serra station.
