The Paraná Health Department confirmed, this Tuesday (11), the seventh death associated with the passage of three tornadoes through the state, on Friday (8). According to the ministry, the victim José Eronildes de Almeida, aged 70, died on Saturday (9), at the Central Health Unit of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, due to acute heart failure.
According to the governments of Paraná and Santa Catarina, six different tornadoes they were formed from the same atmospheric conditions and reached, almost simultaneously, at least six cities: Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, Turvo and Guarapuava, in the central region of Paraná, and Dionísio Cerqueira, Xanxerê and Faxinal dos Guedes, in Santa Catarina.
The greatest damage was recorded in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, a municipality with around 14 thousand inhabitants, 400 kilometers from the capital of Paraná, Curitiba. Of the seven deaths already confirmed in Paraná, six occurred in the city hit by winds estimated between 300 km/h and 330 km/h that caused damage in at least 90% of the urban area.
The seventh confirmed death occurred in the city of Guarapuava. According to the state Department of Health, at least 20 people who required hospital care remained hospitalized until the beginning of this afternoon: 11 in Guarapuava; six in Laranjeiras do Sul and three in Cascavel.

To date, the Paraná health network has provided 835 services to victims of tornadoes, mobilizing more than 400 professionals, including SAMU rescuers and workers from hospital units, as well as nursing and medical technicians and interns and volunteers.
In addition to declaring a state of public calamity in Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, the government of Paraná approved emergency decrees for 32 other cities impacted by climate events in the last two weeks.. In the week before the three tornadoes passed through the state, a series of adverse meteorological events had already been recorded in Paraná, such as storms, floods, windstorms and hailstorms.
The cities that had the emergency situation approved were Alto Piquiri, Alvorada do Sul, Antônio Olinto, Araruna, Astorga, Barbosa Ferraz, Bom Sucesso, California, Cambé, Cambira, Cantagalo, Cruzeiro do Oeste, Engenheiro Beltrão, Fênix, Goioxim, Jandaia do Sul, Leópolis, Mandaguaçu, Marialva, Miraselva, Nova Aurora, Peabiru, Pitangueiras, Planalto, Quarto Centenário, Quinta do Sol, Rolândia, Roncador, Santa Fé, Santa Helena, São João do Ivaí, São Pedro do Ivaí and Sertaneja.
