Paraguayan State has one year to comply with the demands in the Santiago Leguizamón case

Rodolfo Barrios, attorney general, informed 730 AM that the Paraguayan State has 12 months to comply with the sentence imposed by the Inter-American Court in the Santiago Leguizamón case. Among them, compensation of almost US$ 600,000.

“The sentence of the Inter-American Court was read. Since its new formation with four new members (7 in total), they decided to make a new call for a virtual hearing, for the victims in order to communicate the sentence in the different cases, ”he reported.

From there, the Secretariat of the Court notifies the Foreign Ministry, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the victims of the sentence via email about the sentence. In other words, the national government was already aware of the sentence that was going to take place on that date.

“They already told us that today would be the sentence. From this moment on, the term to complete the repairs is one year,” he reported.
