The Paraguayan soccer team, led by its technical director Gustavo Alfaro, arrived this Sunday in national territory, precisely in Cochabamba, where it will complete a ‘mini’ adaptation to the altitude before facing Bolivia on Tuesday in El Alto (4:00 p.m.) , for the twelfth date of the South American Qualifiers.
Both the players and the coaching staff got off the plane that took them from Asunción and did not have any contact with the press that came to the Jorge Wilstermann International Airport.
One of the main novelties in the Paraguayan delegation is the appearance of Alfio Oviedo, a forward who plays for Bolívar and who has a good chance of starting at Villa Ingenio.
Paraguay arrived in Bolivia after training on Sunday morning at the Óscar Harrison Sports High Performance Center. Once the practice was over, Alfaro spoke at a press conference and referred to the height.
“We have to pretend that we will play a 120-minute game for the physical effort of 90 minutes, as if we had overtime; and it is not just playing a game of 120, but with one less player. You have to imagine how to carry out a 120-minute game with one less man because the height is one more player,” said the Argentine coach.
“We have to see how to approach the game with one less. We will play that game thinking that Bolivia has an extra man and it is not because I say so, it is an analysis based on my experience playing at the altitude of Quito, which is different from that of El Alto,” he added.
Albirroja is scheduled to train on Monday at 09:30 at the Félix Capriles stadium and on Tuesday, the same day of the match, they will travel to La Paz after noon.
