Paraguay insists on the extradition of Peirano Basso and views his freedom of movement with concern

The Paraguayan foreign minister, Euclides Acevedo, reiterated to the Uruguayan ambassador in Paraguay, Fernando Sandin, the “firm claim of Paraguay for the execution of the extradition” of the banker José Peirano Bassoin a meeting held this Wednesday, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay it’s a statement.

José Peirano Basso was prosecuted by the Uruguayan justice in 2013 for the bankruptcy of the Banco de Montevideo in 2002with a penalty of six to nine years in prison that did not comply for having passed five years in pre-trial detention awaiting conviction from 2002 and 2007. Along with him were sentenced his brother John Peirano Basso, who fled to the United States and was extradited to Uruguay in 2008and his father Jorge Peirano, who died in prison in 2003.

At the meeting, the Paraguayan foreign minister also asked Uruguay to cancel the refugee status of Juan Arrom, Announcement Martí and Víctor Colmánthree Paraguayan left-wing activists wanted for the kidnapping of a businesswoman in 2002.
